Should I continue on this game? [Guess That Song]

So last year, I decided to become a developer, however I wasn’t that good at scripting. I hired a scripter, that scripter being: @jdsimpson_12 and he and I made Musicmac, a Guess That Song experience that was inspired by: Guess That Song - Roblox Dark1020’s Guess That Song game.

I can say I had fun watching how this game grew, and the amount of effort me and JD put inside the game, but like how I said, JD was a hired scripter, so therefore I was paying him weekly. I got into an car incident irl which caused me to focus my funds on that situation then to pay JD so therefore the project was discarded.

Ever since then I dedicated myself to becoming a better scripter and I think me and JD should give this game another shot. I would like feedback on what I should do with this game going further cause right now I’m currently in the works of making a horror game, so I probably won’t instantly work back on Musicmac in the meantime.

Game: Musicmac | [TESTING] - Roblox
DO NOT BUY GAMEPASSES AS THEY DO NOT WORK CURRENTLY.

The game randomly selects a category which plays a song at random, these categories include:

  • “Guess That Rap”
  • “Guess That Hip-Hop”
  • “Guess That Anime”
  • “Guess That R&B”

2 Players are needed to start the game.

This sounds like a really fun game, you should definitely continue it!

Are you licensed to use those songs? If not, the game will get taken down - well, you wouldn’t be able to upload any of the songs in the first place, since Roblox checks for copyrighted audio.

Pretty good concept. But for these types of games, you’ll have to update the game a lot to add new songs and genres for it to be enjoyable long-term.

Maybe you could a system where players could add their own songs eventually with a moderation system for the audios, but I don’t know if that concept is even achievable. There are a ton of bypassed audios in the library :frowning:

I remember playing those type of “guess the song” games when I was younger.

I recommend trying to find a lot of popular but copywrite free songs to use (or try and find some covers of them)

I think it would be hard to find songs that are legal to use and that players would know. Chances are if they are not copy protected, they are obscure.

It’s a fine game, but it lacks originality. Not trying to come off as pretentious at all here, but I think that there already is an established market for these types of guess the song games.
TLDR; I personally wouldn’t continue this.
