Should I give mobile/console players a advantage?

I was thinking about adding a screen where you select what device you are playing on to my shooter if you play on mobile/console you get an advantage like extra damage or hp since mobile/console has a dissadvantage compared to pc, is this a good idea?

That’s gonna have to be a huge NO.

That’s bad game design 101, having such gameplay advantages just by using a different device would be completely unfair for users on other devices.

If certain devices are going to have a notable disadvantage, maybe you shouldn’t have your game be accessible by those devices.
But if the disadvantage is by the nature of the device (such as controls), try tending to that.

But no device-specific gameplay advantages

Giving players an advantage is not the greatest Idea (depends on the type of game)
And of course, PC players can make roblox think they’re playing on mobile even without exploits.

You can’t give them any extra advantages in numbers but in features.
For example, a shotgun on mobile does the same damage as the one on PC, but it has an auto lock on button that moves the aim shortly after the target’s movements.
You get my point.

ok so, it is NOT bad game design, FPS developers (call of duty, battlefield, etc) give console players an advantage, simply because controlers are not as precise as a mouse, so console players are at an inherent disadvantage. the most common system is some sort of aim asist, but you can change it depending on your game and what you know how to program

If you think it makes the game more fair then why not? It’s not really giving an advantage if you’re just making it more fair.

I give mobile players an autofire option in my game because its really hard to fly the plane and also shoot.

Console players do fine though so I don’t give them anything ‘extra’.

I wouldn’t ask the player what device they are on, just detect it with your script.

Wasn’t talking about aim assist, I was talking about power-ups and boosts.

i dont think you should use those, use more discrete sistems, like some sort of aim assist, small damage boost, or recoil reduction

Giving them an advantage is NOT a huge idea as other people in this post said but instead you can add some tweaks, mostly in mobile since console works fine for shooter so I recommend trying to simulate console gamepads on mobile I don’t know if people agree with my idea

Yea power ups will make pc palyers so… stressed and there will be an unfair advantage
