Should I Make a "Welcome To The Game" Badge?

Hello! I’m creating my game and I’m wondering if I should create a “Welcome To The Game” badge.

I’m personally not a fan of “welcome!!!” badges, because badges are things that should be earned in my opinion. They are items that are displayed on your account profile for all to see, as a accomplishment, and shouldn’t be used to just clog user’s inventories.

Sure they are satisfying to get, and may bring 2 seconds of joy to new players, but I don’t think they should be used as something to draw users in to playing, but as a achievement when you accomplish something worth recognition.

This is of course just me, and I’m sure others have different opinions.

I kinda agree with you. They really only will attract people in badge collecting communities who most likely wont play the actual game and instead join the game just to get the badge. Thanks for your opinion!

No you would waste your robux and not sure if you would make it back

I’d personally think of them as small advertisment marks/bread crumbs.

Think of it as this, flamingo joins the game and gets the badge, 500 stalkers are looking at his badges and is reseting every second, once they see he got a new badge, 500 stalkers will then join.

That is a glorified example but pretty much, it can get your game spread out to multiple people if they happen to so look at badges and or influencers :man_shrugging:

That’s a very good point, thanks for your opinion!

I mean 100 robux isn’t really that big of a deal, I’ve already made a bit off the game already without it even being close to finished.

yes youre right mostly i get anooyed when a badge pops up " welcome to the game " its quite annoying

You probably should. It’s kinda nice to know how many players played your game. Even though it’s pointless to earn it’s often used as data instead.

Why wouldn’t you just use the Visit counter, or a form of HTTP analytics such as Google Analytics, if you don’t trust the game visit count. Badges are a bad form of collecting analytical data, since users can easily delete them from their inventory in 2 clicks.

I mean having a badge of that says when you first joined a game is cool to look back at in the future.

Short answer: Yes if you are have other badges

Long answer: It is all up to you and how much robux you have. If I was in this case, I would go for it, having players know that there are badges in the game. Some players (Like me) want to have a lot of badges on Roblox, and I see it as a competition to have the most badges.

On the other hand, if you are not going to have any other badges, I would say no.

Games like Tower Defense Simulator are fun because when you triumph a map for the first time, you get a badge. However, that game doesn’t have any welcome to the game badge.

Ad @No_b2 said, it would be cool to look inside the future and see when you first joined the game.
