As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to ignore trades who try and send suspicious trades with items that have a very unstable Recent Average Price value, and it is concerning me because some people may fall victim to this type of scam.
I think we should have a feature that tells us that the item has had a massive boost in rap recently so it warns us in case the item the person may be sending us has had a false or in trading language (projected) value.
We could add a warning sentence below the trade if one or more of the items in the trade have had an unstable RAP value (for example the item had just went up from 1.5k to 8k rap within an hour). There would be a mechanism that would have a look at the itemâs statistics and check whether this item has had a massive increase in RAP from its previous average or not.
Itâs a simple feature really but Iâm sick and tired of having to check if an item has been increased by rap substantially from certain users in order to make the item seem more valuable. I am suggesting this because some younger people especially may not be able to tell if the items are legitimate or not so this feature would help them substantially once they learn what it means.
(An example is given below, at the time of the trade the âiLift Twoâ item had a value of 11k previously.)
I donât think that something that should be your responsibility to do, should fall on Roblox. Youâre the one trading and you should be the one to research whenever a limited or not has a stable RAP or not. Even if you can argue that x wasnât unstable before, itâs nearly impossible to predict stability of an item which price is 100% dependent on the users.
For younger users this is a massive problem that is the entire reason I made this some people need help and donât understand the concept of checking if the item is legitimate this is a simple solution that can help them sort of like trade filters.
I still donât believe it should be a vanilla feature on Roblox. If something, it should be either a user-made plug-in or just taught in trading-related places or 3rd party sites (many younger people does actually research those before trading).
IMO I disagree this as useful as trade filters because of how common this is now therefore I believe this should become a vanilla feature and from what Iâve seen a lot of 8-12 year oldâs dont do research when they are trading they see higher rap and they automatically think they are profiting thatâs why this feature should be implanted
Now I donât trade, however I did spend a month checking out limiteds after I started making good money and spending it on dumb stuff like limiteds.
I received a few of these trades and I would say this is an issue, I know people would argue it is user responsibility, however we must keep in mind there are some very young, vulnerable kids on the platform who if they see a trade where they would gain potentially thousands of robux, they are unlikely to even consider that itâs a trick before they click accept.
It is an easy feature to implement and the flag level can even be fairly high, like if the ârapâ is 300% higher then the past weeks average it creates a flag and it could make a lot of kids experiences more enjoyable and safer from scams on the platform.
A similar feature I could see having good potential is just simply not allowing <13 users to use certain features, namely trading, on the platform.
