Hey so I’ve been working on this for about 10 days, the game is what I believe to be faily optimized. It can run on lower end pcs and has even ran on a laptop that only had intel graphics. Granted their performance was not really great, but it ran nonetheless.
Any feedback would be awesome and much appreciated!
Also the grapple system for the steps was made by @x_o so big thanks to them for their amazing scripting skills.
Overall, the showcase is fairly good, the environment having one strong theme, not to mention the matching music. However, there are still a few places for improvement.
First off, I recommend adding some more variety to the vegetation, adding some white flowers or bushes. Also, having some leaves fall from the trees may be a good addition. A good reference for these additions, and possibly other parts of your showcase, could be the Ghost of Tsushima, a game that has a similar theme to your showcase.
Second, in a few places throughout the map, especially when you got closer to certain sides of some buildings, it got fairly dark. Adding some source of light, such as torches, may be beneficial.
Last, but not least, some of your structures, although detailed, can be a bit plain. Try adding some more meshes around these buildings or some engravings inside them, allowing you to add some finishing, unique designs to your game.
Thanks for the detailed feedback ! I plan on adding some light sources but I’ve gotta model some lanterns and such first. As for the vegetation, I hadnt thought of plants so I’ll make sure I incorporate some plants somewhere to give it some more depth.
Lights have been added, need some help on positioning them, any ideas on where I should place more or how I could arrange them better would be greatly appreciated!
The only places where I’d recommend you add some light are at the start and end of the grappling area. Other than that, although there are still some darker areas, the lanterns would look almost out of place.
Honestly, your showcase looks exciting so far!
These elements, particles, etc really fit its japanese theme.
However, I’ve encountered four scenes that I’d now have to describe as I can’t attach images. I guess the file size is too big and I couldn’t figure out how to smaller the size.
One of the trees I observed has probelm with getting its texture adjusted, but that is just some minor detail.
At the top of the tower somewhere, the meshpart has some issues.
Looking at the waterfall, the animation is clearly visible including its outline, adding some fog however could possibly hide these outlines.
Up the stairs, some weird green small GUI appears. Not sure what that is supposed to be.
Very well made, I love many things to do with fantasy, the use of the fog below the floating islands really brings them to life and gives you that sense of ancient Japanese myths and legends, well done on this showcase!
Thanks! I’m trying to figure out what to do for the waterfall, for now its temporary as for the mesh issues I’ll look into it, I probably have some flipped normals some where. As for the trees, I’m not sure how to fix it doing the glitchyness but i’ll try looking into how I can fix it.
Also if you wanna give it another go, try pressing E on that green circle gui
This build overall is really amazing to see. The detail is astounding to look at. The models are really well made and built, but I implore you to add a bit of detail to the insides to make it better. Also, you should add some things to the floating islands that are by the main area, because just leaving them blank doesn’t look that good to me.
Anyways, I looked at this for a little while, because it was well made, and I did find that you can go through part of the fence, also a little green circle appears when this is done by the way.
Updated the game with new structures again, consider giving it a try if you haven’t and leaving me some feedback on what else I can improve on to make this better!
The new models are looking really nice! They really add more detail and style to your showcase, but there were just a few small things I noticed which you could improve.
To start off, there seems to a small mistake in the stairs of a model, as a stair isn’t showing.
Furthermore, on your waterfall island, the current vegetation is well made, but a little diversity may make it more attractive. Also, on the other side of the island, the water seem to just sit there when you’d expect it to fall. Maybe add the same waterfall effect to the other side of the island.
