Hey everyone, I’ve been working on this game for a while and wanted to finally present it out for some comments and such. The game is a Sci-Fi open world heavily inspired by Jet Set Radio Future with missions, collectibles, and a story connecting it all. The game is in heavy WIP and I’m just trying to show off how far I’ve come, nothing is final or completed so if you come across a bug or error in story progression, please don’t be alarmed.
Plot
The game takes place in ECP17, a high-tech city composed of 3 districts. The Great Admin has cut communication with the Galactic Union and has established a strong dictatorship. Having fun has become illegal and entertainment is banished. You’re in charge of joining, or creating, a team of rebels, fighting against the new anti-leisure laws oppressing the city. Roam the city sabotaging the propaganda, help citizens, and find a way to reach the Orbital Station. Reaching the station will allow you to contact the Galactic Union and alert them of the new admin’s tyranny. The players job is to join a resistance known as the “Circuits” to help gain the city back to normal. The Orbital Station is located in the Industrial District and cannot be normally accessed with Holocans so you will need to ask around to find out a way to reach it. Along the way, you will interact with different rival groups that have crucial information on ways to enter the Orbital Station. Getting the info will require you to perform missions for them, trick them into thinking you want to join them, or just stealing a USB. There is propaganda graffiti on the walls, signs describing the Great Admin’s greatness, etc. that can be sprayed on with the graffiti gear.
Maps/Setting
The game takes place in a futuristic time where inhabitants are composed of humans, aliens, and clones. The game takes place in one giant planet composed of three different districts - Haven District, Administrative District, and Industrial District- each with their own style. The maps are generally pretty big and is basically a playground for players to move around and explore. The maps are big but shouldn’t feel empty as there are plenty of things to do. The maps are filled with neon buildings, flying vehicles, people asking for assistance, etc.
Collectibles
The game relies heavily on the aspect of collectibles to access different areas and buy gears. There are two main collectibles - Neutros and Holocans. Neutros act as currency to buy things from the shop and are commonly given by the inhabitants of ECP-17 by completing missions, while Holocans are extremely rare to come across and are littered around the maps or scarcely given by an inhabitant. Players start off in Haven (The first district) and must collect a set amount of Holocans to access the other two districts.
Possible Design for Holocan:
Mechanics
To accommodate for the large scale of the maps, players have a boost/sprint(hold shift), a jetpack(hold x and put the camera in the desired direction), and there are also blue gates/rings that provide a brief speed up. Using these mechanics together, like boosting and entering a ring, allow for traversal around the maps to be easier. The top right is an objective indicator that you SHOULD follow for proper progression and will award you with Neutros, but it isn’t crucial. The bottom left is a missions indicator. It will say “[NONE]” when you join but as you talk to people, they will give you missions and the “[NONE]” will change to the what is needed for the mission. Talk to as many people that you come across as well. There will be a graffiti mechanic where players spray over the Great Admin’s propaganda and will be awarded Neutros for it, but I haven’t implemented it yet.
Progress/Screenshots
I started the game 1-2 years back and had went on hiatus for a bit. Character dialogue, guis, mission system, mechanics, and a lot of core elements are basically done. The main thing for now are the maps which are close to completion. Holocans and Neutros are pretty much useless right now as there is no shop and since the districts are incomplete, I’ve added a Robux fee for them to be entered. Below are the districts completion and screenshots.
Administrative District - 60%
This is the second district that players will enter. A lot of the story will unfold here as players will meet their first rival gang here - the Breakers.
Game:
[ Project Circuit ] - Roblox (Access to Industrial District requires a small Robux fee since its still incomplete)
Administrative District - Roblox (The Administrative District is separated for now and also requires a small fee)
