Showcase Models: Decals + Meshes into Models!

Fusing Decals & Meshes to Create Models!

I’ve been doing this for a while now, I have been creating my other models with decals and meshes. I replace other meshes with decals, because I don’t know how to make meshes in blender, and for other models to blend into my game style too. I simply experiment with other model’s meshes and combine them into my decals. I tried to do other tree designs and other plants.

Here are some examples:

Models with Decals:

Models with only pure mesh parts:

NOTE: Yes, I know this is a lousy job in making models, but this is how I do it since I don’t have big knowledge about modeling in programs other than the studio platform. Let me know what you think!

Update: It looks great with both combined! It certainly is a better way to use decals into models. But here are some pros and cons of decals+meshes models.

Pros:

  • Meshes and decals to models are much convenient than creating new models from blender or other model programs.
  • These models can help you reach your ideal model look without hassle.
  • An easy way and less time consuming of doing models that can reach your ideal style.

Cons:

  • Some people will consider this lousy work, and bad quality of producing models.
  • Decals can produce a glitching move when the camera of the player moves around. (But this only happens when the decals are colliding at one point equally.)
