Hey! - this is my first post, so bear with me.
If anyone has some time to spare, I would love to hear some feedback on the showcase I’m currently working on! I’m a “new user” so I’m not able to insert photos yet, but I’ll include a link.
The reason I need feedback is because I want to know if you think I could make any improvements, add other things or just give ideas! It helps a lot! If you wanna know the “story” behind the showcase, it is in the description of the game - you could give ideas for that too.
Oh - and one last thing! The name of the showcase is currently " The Buried Apartment From 2072" but I want it changed. I like the name, but it needs a change because it doesn’t fit, as in you can’t see the whole title before clicking the actual game. If anyone has ideas similar to the current name, just shorter, that would be awesome too!
It would also be nice to include some screenshots of the game for those who can’t play right now, or can’t run it at max graphics so they see how it was intended to be seen.
There are a few free image hosting solutions like gyazo and lightshot if you want to upload images there
This is a good start for your showcase. I like the use of varied and vibrant colors mixed with a lot of greys. It gives the room a unique flavor to it. I also like the papers that are hanging everywhere. It might be due to limitations of part sizes, but the thick lines and tape give them a charismatic cartoony feel. That being said there are of course a lot of things that can be improved as well.
First of, the sense of skill is a little off in some places. Take these books for example:
These books are very thick and big compared to your character. It can be difficult to make books that feel right using just parts and unions, so if possible I would recommend picking up a modelling program/software to recreate those books at a better scale.
Another thing to improve would be the sand near the entrance/exit.
Again, the best way to make such a shape is by using a modelling program, but you can also achieve this look by connecting regular parts, which can be made easier with a plugin such as GapFill.
One final piece of feedback would be to watch out with patterns. For example, take a look at this brick wall:
You can see a lot of repetition in the bricks because they are similar in size and as such the material wraps around each part in a similar way, giving this repeating pattern.
Some final positive notes: I love the way you’ve created those planters and glasses. And the density of the showcase is also good. So far I haven’t seen any spots that looked empty or too clean when compared to the rest.
Looks great for a beginner, however I’d recommend you working on the walls and flooring. As it seems, you’re going for the sci-fi feel so you gotta get that geometry in. I normally just use SmoothPlastic textures for most of my sci-fi things and it’s what makes it more Sc-Fi (and metal). You want the building environment to have a Sci-Fi feel as well and not just assets. Overall, great work!
