Both the icon and thumbnail are really plain and are composed of only text on a plain black background.

Not only, but the “R” and “A” letters are touching each other. Same with the “F” and “T” letters.
The spacing is off. -
Your name is touching the edge of the Thumbnail, which should be avoided.

The text is not centered.

You should try to give some indication of what the game’s about. A FPS will have a gun on the front. A library game will have a library in the icon.
Just more detail in general. One easy way is to take a screenshot of your game and put it behind the words.

I would suggest taking a blurred picture of the game as a background instead of the black background. The text looks nice but not a lot of people are going to click on solid text with solid background.

Very true, But I’m new to art and it seems really hard to me.
The only application i have and use for art is paint. 
I suggest using gimp, photoshop or any other professional software you can get your hands on. You don’t have to be good at it but being able to use can take you a long way in making decent graphics.

Photoshop costs money (big time), but a free alternative would be photopea.
Gimp is free.
You could also try paint.net.
