Simplicity

I’ve been working on this for a while. It’s pretty small but really detailed; it took me a long time because I’m busy and I don’t have much motivation.
Basically the idea for this is a sense of minimalism but not in the modern style, kind of living with what is necessary and what is desirable but not harmful. I don’t know, It has 3 rooms but they all have some fair detail to them.
There are some interactive things around the house like the windows, light switches, sinks, and shower. The fan spins but it messes up a lot, I’m not sure how to fix it (if someone can tell me how to fix it, that would be great).

If you have any suggestions please tell me, I honestly have no idea what to do next.

that’s cool and all but when are you going to add guns

I personally love the places you visit and see just scenery, I feel as though if some soothing music, and some effects are added to this game that people would enjoy it, without guns! :woohoo:

really gorgeous visuals!

anywhere to see it online?

I love the concept of design put into this place. It’s awesome! Very peaceful too.

Love it, great to know I’m not the only one creating a place with simple designs and simple detailing.

the wood grain isn’t facing the RIGHT WAY!!!11!!!

This looks incredible! I’m totally digging the detail put into the kitchen!

As for that ceiling fan, have you tried using the Motor/Motor6D instances (not surfaces)?

Completely amazing!

Seems like all the cool builders these days use that one Volumetric Lighting plugin.

Wow! Nice work! Would love to see this expanded a bit too. Nicely done. The working light switches and functional windows is a nice touch.

I’m not sure how to use those. Can you help me out with that?

It’s similar to welds. There was a recent wiki article on how to use joints, so that should be easy to follow. Here: Documentation - Roblox Creator Hub

Still not getting it. I tried entering the script and renaming some parts but the fan got flipped to a different position and spinned the wrong way and frankly I have no idea how to change it without screwing everything up.

I have a plugin that should make doing this very easy: http://www.roblox.com/Character-Creator-BETA-item?id=171922549 (Don’t be fooled by the name, it can be used for more than just creating characters.)

  1. Group the fan into a model
  2. Open up the character creator (found in your plugins tab), then press “Edit”.
  3. Press bind.
  4. Select the base part (doesn’t rotate).

  1. Select the second part (rotates).

  1. Press “Edit” and click on the green line and circle.
  2. Rotate the blue parts so they appear to face the direction you want the fan to rotate. Make sure the circle is also centered on the fan post (should already be like that).

  1. Set the MaxVelocity and DesiredAngle (I would recommend using a script to periodically reset CurrentAngle so the fan runs forever).

  1. Press play!

Thank you so much! This helps greatly.

looks really cool.

i have one tip for the grassy hills:
you’re using nodes, right? if you’re going from grass to stone/hill, move the top nodes 0.2-0.4 studs back, and then start making the hill/stones underneath it.
this way, it looks like the grass is slightly hanging over the hillside, instead of directly going from grass to hill.

it just looks more natural.
