Simulator Map Suggestions

Hello all,

I’m creating a simulator game, and I have created a very basic map for it. There will be a race course map around the outside edge, but right now my problem is coming up with what to add to it.

Right now, I’m looking for feedback on:

  1. What could I add to the center of the map?
  2. Can I improve on anything that already exsists?
Screenshots

Please keep in mind that this is a speed simulator, so I want players to be able to run around at high speeds and not bump into lots of things.

If you need additional screenshots, please let me know. Thank you in advance .

I really like the cartoony style of the map. A recommendation i have is to make the map less “blocky”. Try adding some other shapes into the map. In the center, you could add the spawn, leaderboards and maybe a small place where you step on and the shop opens! Also, try fixing the borders of the map at the external side, because players can zoom out and see that part of the map that does not fit at all.

For an intentionally open map, looks great! I like the blocky style.

I don’t see a shop one in the screenshots, so you should probably add a power-up/rebirth shop area somewhere on the map if you’re planning to add power-ups or rebirths.

You should also add a few more trees or bushes… make them CanCollide false if people run into them too much.

Thank you guys for the awesome feedback! Speed simulator is definitely progressing fast! If you guys need higher quality pics or more screenshots just let me know.

Loving the map! You said that the simulator is going to have players running around the map, why not try making the map bigger and also incorporating some different ecosystems (mountains, jungles, beaches, etc.) so you can give players more freedom in exploration.

there is something missing from the map, namely stones. :+1:

Looks nice, the small blocks in the grass look kind of weird tho.

I would raise the lightings saturation to make the game more colorful, maybe add some sun ray’s. You’ll probably want to tune down sun rays quite a bit since this is a simulator, but it would add a cool affect.

With this type of map where would you put the buildings tho? Is this going to be like speed simulator where you just collect steps/coins/currency? If it’s not, then I think maybe remove one of the hills so you can make a corner for a few buildings. When/if you add buildings you want it to be easily found and quick to get to. So you want to be able to see it from almost around the entire map and have it pretty close to everything else.

Edit: sorry I didn’t see the part saying it was a race course.

Thanks for the good advice on the sunrays :upside_down_face:

This will be a game similar to speed simulator. And the race course will be going around the outside, I just haven’t built it yet.

Maybe you could make some little steps to get up on top of those mountain-hill type things. If you are going to make a track on the along the outside edge does that mean still inside the map? If so then suggest you move the hills and tree a little more towards the center, cause the track might be a little narrow. Maybe you could make those hill things like a little parkour type thing and have a reward at the top. Love the map!

If this is going to be a lot like the existing made games, try to make it attractive. Including different methods and mechanics you should bring something new like adding define and interesting elements, perhaps include things that aren’t in those simulator games, and see what you can do to make yours stand out from others.

You could include platforms around the center to have a option for players to jump on certain objects e.g. ‘buildings mountain parts ect’ The entire place looks quite bland but if your planning on including other various props it could make it stand out. If those games inspired you to create something like this try adding something new (shops - buildings - teleports) that you could practice to increase your speed.

Otherwise it’s a start continue to develop your time into making it interesting and eye-catching.

Well; for one thing I’d reccomend that you add things that can let the player explore and sort of go further in the map so it just isn’t a pretty background.

Overall; it’s fine.

To put it simply, it’s very plain. You need to add some structures like some houses, or maybe add some bushes and rocks. Give it some life!
