It’s not often I look at ROBLOX anymore, as it has been unusable for me since disallowing Linux support.
However, on the rare occasions when I have checked the site to make comments and update profile information, I have noticed some serious deterioration over time.
Captchas
The captcha test employed on this site could definitely work - you add up several sets of random scattered dice until you find the set that adds up to the right number. Unfortunately, ROBLOX feels the need to force you to complete this test 5 times in a row without errors. The process takes an obnoxious amount of time and effort to complete compared to any similar system I have used.Commenting on Items
Looking over the fact that you still can't comment on games yet, once you complete the real-time Sisyphus-based captcha, your comment never appears. It says "you can continue with your action", yet no comment is made, and clicking the Post button again, it asks you to complete another captcha. Why?
My best guess is that it takes so long to complete the CAPTCHA that the comment request times out, every time. Utterly hilarious and utterly disappointing.
Game recommendation widget
On the front-page continue recommendations, a message saying "1 friend" sometimes covers up the game's ratings and player counter. What does this mean, and was there really there no better way of conveying that information when there's plenty of headroom until the next heading on the page?Developer - Create interface - bah humbug
This part of the site has been updated with a new look. It was unfortunately done so in such a way that the same settings that used to be conveniently laid out in a compact vertical arrangement now take up half the page per item. The pages were also blown up to occupy the whole window, meaning longer mouse movements to accomplish the same goals as before. I'm sure it's great on a touchscreen. Irritating for me on a desktop, where most developers spend most of their developing time. I compare it to Windows 8's touchscreen orientation; you should consider having two different layouts instead.Though you could certainly chalk that up to me not wanting it to change.
Rate limiting
You'd better carefully consider every last morsel of data you get from the ROBLOX site, cause you won't be getting another one any time soon. 7 times out of 10, item previews show a loading animation for a couple of minutes and then give up. Is it rate limiting, or bad performance?In-game: Anti-cheat integration
Need I say more? Okay...- Linux broken
- Old machines broken
- Massive software incompatibilities
- Infinite number of conflicts and false positives
- Downdetector page now permanently on fire
But if I can’t play the game now, could it at least have a working website behind it?
What’s going on with this platform, and what has prompted these infuriating feature regressions?
