Would not recommend hiring unfortunately. Initially I reached out to hire them, and then he stopped replying shortly after (later clarified to be due to personal issues). I reminded them of how much I was paying but never really got anything after that.
A few months later they saw my post hiring for developers, reached out and said “so sorry, irl stuff happened last time so I was never able to follow up, can I join the team?”, which is fully reasonable, I am fully willing to respect personal requests given they are communicated clearly.
After I officially brought them onto the team again, they promptly began ignoring me again (I made 3+ attempts to reach out and I never got any reply months later). This is unacceptable for somebody under a paid position and the inability to communicate anything (personal or not) is a dealbreaker.
My issue is you made no clear attempt to communicate this at all. As I said before I would have been more than forgiving had you just said “hey something’s up I can’t be working”, instead you ignored my messages even months later.
What I’m saying is not “you can’t be taking time off for personal things”. I’m just trying to say you need to be better about communicating.
