Smooth transition to idle animation for tool?

I’d like a way for the attack animation to smoothly transition to it’s idling animation rather than this “snappy” instant one that it has. If i animate the attack to revert to its idling pose when it ends, then the left arm will remain motionless briefly because its not intended to be animated. Any advice?

change the fade time of the animation (?)

This does work but it appears choppy on the client as opposed to the server

I think most big games separate the attack and the putting back of the weapon animations. So maybe separate them?

or animate the arm as if it was supposed to be animated?

or make it so that the character finishes using both the left and right arms at the same time. So that there is no down time for either arm.
