Hey guys do you have any tips on making a game without a dev team? Because I am trying to make a game by myself.
I mean I haven’t done so before so these are just my opinions.
-Don’t try to make a jailbreak level game, be simple and realistic try for something viable you can start off with and upgrade as time goes by.
-Decide on solid core game-play, you need to know what you wanna do so you can make a list of what assets you will require.
-Make sure you have fun else you will likely end up abandoning the project.
Btw If you aren’t able to script that can put a big wrench in your plan so if you aren’t then I would think about learning scripting before making the game.
Don’t feel discouraged when tackling a new problem. There’s gonna be times where you cross a challenge that you haven’t had to deal with before. Maybe you’re accustomed to being in projects where you don’t have to worry about the UI Design, or the scripting, or whatever. But what’s important to understand here is that this isn’t a limitation. It’s simply something that you don’t know yet. Dive in head first. You have a problem, now find a solution. Chances are, you’ll be surprised with what you’re really capable of.
Motivation is hard. Suddenly you’re not in an environment where you’re with a team of individuals who all want to see the project succeed. You’re working on your own, and you have to push yourself along.
The best way to do this is to set goals, and then see them through. Every time you hop in studio, have a goal of what you want to complete. And if you still need that extra motivation, share how the project’s going with a friend.
Be proud of what you accomplish. You’re making a game all on your own. It’s tough! You should be proud of that. You’ve gone a difficult route, and you should see every small victory as a triumph.
If you are going to make a game by yourself (like I normally do) you need to be good at building, scripting and UI if you want it to be good. Try and learn to be the “jack of all trades” type and you should be good to go!
Whilst testing if you see something make a note and when testing completed decide on what is easiest to fix next.
Hi!
I recommend you to structure your ideas, make up your mind.
Your game should be:
- Original
- Interesting
- Fun to play
You can think about questions like:
- What kind of game is missing on Roblox?
- What do I wanna build? (A showcase, a hangout, a RPG game etc)
- What name should it have and what should I include in it?
- How am I gonna start?
- Am I gonna hire testers in the future for it?
etc, etc.
Basically, what I’m trying to mention again, make up your mind. We can only give you advise, what you’re gonna make, is up to you.
If you have any questions, mention me in this post or DM me directly.
Good luck!
