I’d like to add a boombox gamepass that lets people play any music ID from the roblox site. But what about copyrights? Will simply allowing random person to play any song on the site stop me from creating such a feature? Did this issue come up in anyone’s game?
Boomboxes as found in a lot of popular games nowadays allow the owner of the boombox to broadcast audio to the entire server. His question is if it is okay to have this feature since anyone playing on PC/Mobile owning the boombox can play any audio to all players, which means copyrighted tracks will play on xbox players as well.
And @mael: you could add a toggle that allows players to mute the boombox audio locally. You should probably do that even if copyright would not be an issue as I personally leave any game that allows players to spam audio right away and I’m afraid others do too.
This will be a problem if your making the game Xbox compatible. Like wsly said add a local mute for xbox users, on the site it doesn’t seem to be strictly enforced.
Aren’t XBox and PC/other servers separate? If they are then you could just disable the boombox for xbox and not have to worry about any kind of muting because nobody else could play music anyway.
Not 100% that this is the case though. This was also something I was wondering about .
