Some resources topics are poorly detailed and hard to understand

As a Roblox Developer, it has become increasingly difficult to find new resources that are detailed enough to understand what the resource does and how it will help us.

I’ve encountered several times where the original poster has a good resource but the topic that explains the resource isn’t detailed enough to understand what it does and how to use it.

An example of the problem (click on the image):

The issue with the resource above is that:

  • It doesn’t give a description of how the resource works.
  • The features of the resource aren’t listed.
  • The OP doesn’t explain how to use it

An example of a descriptive and detailed resource

The resource topic above is good because it:

  • Describes what the resource is and what it does
  • Gives an explanation on why we should use it
  • Shows how to use the resource
  • Displays examples of what it can do
  • Gives a counterargument on why this would be useful compared to other methods

If Roblox were to address this issue, it would be:

  • Less difficult to find a good resource that would be beneficial for me
  • Less difficult to determine whether a resource fits my needs

Clarification:
This topic is not about the quality of the resources found in the resources category, but the quality of the topic of the resource that explains the resource itself.

A solution might be adding a resource wizard similar to the bug report wizard, except in a different format.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

the image doesn’t appear, is it a devforum issue? If it is, can you send it in PMs?

I reuploaded it. Can you see it now? (You’ll need to click on the image)

Not sure why this is posted here. If you have an issue with someone being too cryptic with their resource, voice that directly to them.

Please no. The wizard is a whole pain in the bottom to use compared to just writing something down here. Not to mention that it doesn’t add anything to the table here.

It doesn’t render, but I could still click on it to view it though.

I didn’t know that, since I’ve never got the try the bug report wizard. Thanks for telling me.

Unfortunately, I’ve tried that several times and that doesn’t always work.

I see your point of view though. I just felt like maybe there could be something done about it.

Are you suggesting a more standardized format for community authored tutorials?

Yes, for both tutorials and resources.
