What do you want to achieve?
Some advice on how to delete this stolen clothing, and counter the counter-notice a group called Styliq Clothing sent to me. -
What is the issue?
My group’s name is Rainbow Garden, a few days ago, a group called Styliq Clothing downloaded one of my group’s clothing and used AI art to modify the clothing so it looked different. I sent Roblox Copyright Team and it was taken down. But Styliq Clothing has sent me a counter-notice, I don’t think it’s worth the time, money, and revealing all my information just for this clothing that may not even sell much. If I don’t find a lawyer and file a counter-notice, the AI clothing will be reinstated soon, which means that this method works so well that they can continue stealing more without fear of DMCA.
At first, I didn’t realize it was mine, but I knew it was AI-made, so I searched for some tools that could make Roblox clothing like that, not Customuse. I was thinking something still too advanced for today, it was just stealing the templates and modifying it with AI, as simple as that.
Here’s more evidence that Styliq Clothing uses AI to steal:
You may say that it’s from the same character, of course, they will look similar, but the Navia and Lyney ones are so obvious that the only difference is the colors , others have the same outlines.
Here are more examples of their usage of AI, found at https://twitter.com/StyliqClothing everyone knows that AI art can be somewhat unidentifiable.
These clothing vary too much from the actual character’s outfit.
A summary of the counter-notice I received:
- He stated that they did not copy from me and it was a mistake, it was similar because it’s from the same character (Totaaaaally not lies)
- He stated that my group has made several other anime characters without caring about copyright. (which is irrelevant, there are lots of other groups with more anime characters than mine, and their group has other anime characters too.)
- He accused me of breaking one of the rules of selling Genshin Impact’s merchandise “Direct use, retouching, or partial modifications of official source materials used in fan-made merchandise or creation of product detail page material is strictly prohibited.” (So I look like the bad person now.)
Honestly, I am shocked, usually, I find lots of stolen clothing and have them removed easily, but this AI art and copyright commotion sure is troublesome. As an old saying goes… “A literate thief can be more menacing than a common crook.” If I remember well.
- What solutions have you tried so far?
Explaining to the Copyright agents isn’t working, they only want me to file an action seeking a court order.
Roblox Clothing Catalog is so messy that I would like to volunteer to clean it. I am on the verge of giving up uploading Roblox classic clothing, I don’t even earn much after so much work I put into my group, all quality clothes, while something very simple or stolen clothes gets more sales than mine…
There are already a bunch of theft groups by the same creator I have to deal with (always the same description), they create alts so copyright strikes are useless, and other shady methods. I may be the first and only person in this case, but I believe more designers are going to have the same problem in the future as AI art is getting more improvements.
