I’m very cheap, and I was wondering if there was a way to get crisp SFX for a multitude of guns. Is there a good way to get these SFX created myself (with minimal music/SFX experience)? Or if there was a free archive somewhere on the web? Or will I have to hire a SFX expert? Thanks.
There are several Royalty Free SFX repositories, I typically frequent Fesliyan Studios as I’ve never had an issue with them and they (almost) always have what I’m looking for.
A simple google search for things like “royalty free gun sfx” will reveal more repositories so I’ll leave you on your own time to find some.
I wouldn’t recommend hiring a professional expert just to make you simple “SFX” since you can do all of this on your own, if your wanting to achieve this yourself you could grab a mic and start recording. There are variety of different softwares out there that you could use and go from there, doing your own research could find you thousands of websites that provides the community with sound effects.
You’ll want to look for free royalty free sound effects that can be used for personal use or paid options.
That way you don’t have to deal with (copyright violations), however it’s nothing wrong with paying for sorting effects it’s always good to do it yourself if you feel the need to. Here is a similar thread about getting sound effects i would suggest checking it out and see what approach your wanting to go for.
I do understand that your problem is already solved, but I just had the urge to say this.
You don’t need a professional SFX artist to make you a few gun sounds, and a lot of times, professional SFX artist wont know a thing or two about gunshot facts.
I’m by far a non-professional SFX artist, but I study firearms, and can surpass the gunshot SFX quality of that from a professional. Most professionals wont mainly study firearms, which makes sense. As a professional you don’t want to know only 1 fact.
