I have a slight problem that I hope you guys might be able to answer! Sound effects! This is a key feature that every game usually must have to bring life to the game. I have been having trouble with finding sounds that I like, and I wanted to ask if any of you have recommendations to places I can find sounds. The audio library is full of sounds but for me I rarely find the exact sound I am looking for. Thanks!
There are a huge number of places you can look at for sounds, both free and paid licensing.
The first place you may want to search is through GameaudioGDC. Every year they give out thousands of dollars worth of sound effects for free to celebrate the Game Developers’ Conference. It may not have everything or even anything you’re looking for but it’s worth a deep dive to see if you like something there. Give it a look!
From there, the two places that I hawk for sound effects are AudioJungle and Pond5. There are some sound designers who have content on both sites so you might get some parallels but I find that it’s easy to search for some sounds you might like. There are some queries that are a little too full with noise and it’s hard to get good signal without scrolling for a bit.
Last but not least, what’s a recommendation without popping in the Unity Asset Store? Lots of sweet, generic packs that you can purchase and drop into your experience.
