SpecialMesh Sphere isn't scaling right

Hey devs, this is my first forum post so apologies if I make any mistakes!

Currently trying to help a friend learn how to use studios and they asked how to make a oval. I created a part, added a special mesh, made the mesh type a sphere, but here’s the thing:

Using Scale doesn’t squish the sphere, only transform does, but when I use transform, its very glitchy and sometimes doesnt even stay squished, just reverts to what it originally was. It also does not squish unless I am draggging it directly from the center side.

(Minor flashing warning for the following gifs showing the issues)

Glitching while using transform
Not scaling with certain vertices(?) of the transform tool

There is also how when we try to scale it after we have managed to squish it using transform, it just reverts back to a normal sphere!

Feedback would be greatly appreciated, as I am unsure what I possibly have done wrong, or if it is something else causing this. Thanks!

Hi there!

Well, an alternative is to use blender. In blender, you can add a sphere, export and import it into roblox, and then you can make it oval. I know there’s a bunch of tutorials out there and posts here on the dev forum which can explain it better.

Another alternative is to go into the toolbox, and search up “sphere” in meshes.

Hey, make sure you have the part shape set to “block” in properties, this scaling glitch is a result of it being set to “ball.” From there the SpecialMesh should work as expected! If you’re having collision issues, unioning the part once scaled how you want it should solve it.
