As you can tell by the title of this post, I want some feedback on my project titled “Spells Away!”
What is the game about? It’s basically just a first-person shooter but there are wands instead of guns. Right now, the game does not have anything interesting according to me. But I think the idea is pretty cool

The UI could be improved. It would be cool if your all your UI followed a magical theme, since your game is based on magic and this will help make the UI look like it’s all connected. For example, the UI’s could have a theme of purple colors with stars, particles, potions, etc. Since you have a forest theme for your map, setting the atmosphere a bit darker, like evening, would be great and fit the theme. This will also make the bright neon colours of the magic wand effect to pop. Adding different particles to the map would also be a nice touch as well. It will be a good idea to have the dummies dress up as villain-type characters that fit your theme, like witches, and have them follow and lower your health when they touch you. This would allow the players to engage in the game even when there are no other active players. When I rejoined the game I noticed that you have different magical spells, but I didn’t notice this at first because you need to rejoin the game in order to see them (I think). It would be better if after a set time different spells were available or through a specific UI that allows players to change the spell of their wand. It would be a good idea to add a shop as well, and in the shop you could change your wand skin or have the ability to buy different effects. When players run out of spells, it would be a good idea to have a slider that shows the speed and progress of the wands reload time. Lastly, you should save the kills when a player leaves the game.
Later on, you could add more effects like the ability the change maps, level up, etc.
All your ideas are pretty cool, and I would like to try them out! I think I forgot to mention that the game is still in it’s early stage. It’s not complete yet, so I thought about asking for some feedback to get motivation and ideas that could make the project better.
I feel like some ideas that you suggested are meant to be implemented when the game is at it’s final stage. Later on if this game becomes what I want it to be, I would definitely like to implement those ideas.
And thanks again! Sorry if I am replying a little late.

As said by @swaggirl_lisa, the UI needs improvement. It’s not the worst I’ve seen, but it’s definitely not good.
Also, add auto reloading. The wands themselves have only one shot. You reload by clicking again, which is kind of inconvenient. You could add mana as a feature. Players can use mana to shoot and have to wait for it to replenish before doing it again.
On the map itself, add invisible walls. You’re able to walk right off the edge of the map. Make the walls decently high so you can’t see over as well as terrain looking. The walls shouldn’t be a part you stretch across the edge.
It’s important you figure out a style you want. Lisa detailed one above if you wish to follow that. Having a style in mind will make your project overall a lot cleaner as well as appealing. Not only that, you will have an idea in mind of how the game is going to look.
Okay, I didn’t really think much about the UI as the game is still in it’s early stage. But I am definitely thinking about changing the style. It can be done later, not that big of an issue. By the way, is the UI really that bad? I thought it was alright.
And about this…
The wands themselves have only one shot
Are you aware that there are different spells in the game (3 currently)? Each spell gives you a different number of shots you can fire
I was not aware of other spells, but I think I phrased my words wrong. I was mainly focused on having to click again after all your available shots are gone to reload. You can have it reload right after all available “ammo” is out.
