Spider Enemy Rig can't import FBX Animations + Importing Preview Bug

1. What do you want to achieve? Keep it simple and clear!
I’m attempting to import an FBX animation onto a custom rig. I don’t particularly need to be able to animate in Roblox Studio (all of the animations will be done in blender), but I need to be able to export it into the Rig.

2. What is the issue? Include screenshots / videos if possible!
Any time I try to import the FBX animation onto the rig, it generates a string of blank keyframes. I’ve never imported blender rigged FBX models before, so I think it’s some sort of import/export issue, but I’ve tried everything I could think of and it keeps turning up blank. There are a few weird details I’ve noticed that definitely look like they’re off but I’m not sure what’s causing them/what they mean.

When importing the model into roblox, the parts initially appear all rotated wrong and out of wack in the preview. I’ve found a workaround where if I select “No Rig” (where it looks fine in the preview) and change it back to “Custom” it imports fine, but it’s definitely weird. I tried importing another random non-roblox FBX to test it, and the exact same thing happened.

3. What solutions have you tried so far? Did you look for solutions on the Developer Hub?
I’ve trawled both youtube and DevForum and found nothing helpful. I’ve rigged and re-rigged my model a couple times, tried all sorts of export settings, and nothing has worked yet.

Obligatory rig checklist of things I’ve done

  • rig has all transforms applied and is oriented towards -y
  • no weird normals/all normals are facing the correct direction
  • bones are different names than the meshes
  • This is not a deform rig. All of the parts are parented to bones.
  • everything is at a consistent import size
  • i’ve been able to import non-rigged models fine
  • team create is off

This is how my rig looks:

These are my export settings in blender for the 3D rig file and the Animation FBX file.

If anyone needs any extra information I’ll gladly add it.

I haven’t done animation in Blender and tried exporting, but I’ve imported many models with rigs. From a glance, I don’t understand how to fix the importing model issue or the animation issue.

Unfortunately one of my laptops recently broke and Blender isn’t working on my other laptop.

Hopefully @tasavix or someone knowledgeable on this can jump in here
