On March 15th, I made a bug report, and just 2 days later it was closed for unspecified reason. I am unsure what I am suppose to do now, because the issue will definitely not be fixed now since the post is closed, and making another post will likely result in a similar outcome, plus possible moderation action.
I tried to contact the responsible staff member and politely asked why the post was closed, but received no response. It’s been five days, and the view count has increased, so it’s likely they saw my inquiry but chose not to respond.
I believe that this kind of treatment is disrespectful and frustrating as it discourages me from posting on DevForum and providing feedback to Roblox. By providing a reason for post closures, I will be able to understand why my posts get closed, which will allow me to improve my future posts.
your post already had 2 replies saying that this is intended (which it is), but i agree, some posts are closed without reason. it would’ve been nice if they had assured.
I did see those, but I don’t know where they got that information from. The ParticleEmitter documentation page doesn’t mention anything about particle simulation being reset when the emitter goes out of player’s view. As for the post that was linked, the engineer’s replies seem to suggest otherwise:
The issue that I described in my bug report shows that the simulation doesn’t resume, but rather starts from zero. It also doesn’t suggest off-screen, nor forward simulation.
Hey, thanks for the feedback! We are making a huge effort to be more responsive on reports. That one you sent over did look like intended behavior. But I’ll double check to make sure we do respond and let you know what’s going on before we close.
Thank you for the response, I really appreciate it. I still have doubts though, as an engineer’s replies in similar post seem to suggest that the particle emitter should pause when out of view, and resume when in view, but that doesn’t seem to be the case as shown in my bug report. Perhaps, I might be misinterpreting what they have stated?
I 100% agree on this. But sometimes i noticed that staff marks a persons post as “solved” indicating that this is the reason why the bug report was closed
A small example is this:
Staff marking my reply as the solution as it was intended behavior as a example:
Honestly i wouldn’t mind if staff continues working like this even without responding. But closing the ticket without a response or marking a message as a solution seems unreasonable and is just lack of communication to the community
Yeah, if the solution has been already presented and the staff believes is true they should mark it as such, otherwise, they should provide the reason themselves and only then close the post. Additionally, there should be an official way to appeal the decision since the staff may not always be right, which happened at least once from my experience.
