oh if they are lava make them more blobby, and i was saying that the orange clashes with the blue making the particles stand out more than the lightsaber or character

It is meant to mimic the tops of these lava spews, as the part of the battle that it shows isn’t down on the lava surface, and so only the small embers and tiniest parts would spew up that high

and the clashing of colours is purposefully done, as blue is the opposite of the colour spectrum to orange it created a larger colour clash, with the scene being mainly warm/hot colours, the eye is drawn to the bright cold blue colour in the centre

even then, since they are opposites it makes them complementary colours not clashing colours
that is true, i just realized the ambient is orange so the blue is catching eye

Particles are a great effect to use in GFXs as they add more to the overall scene, but if overdone it can take away. Now, I’m not saying your GFX’s particles are really overdone (Just a bit), I just think that some areas look a bit too thick, such as the particles on the picture above.
It may be just from my perspective

yeah, I agree with your friend, it would be a very good GFX if their form depicts more motion. Looking at sword fighting scenes would help a lot with this, and try not imitate the forms too much, sometimes it’s good to trust your instinct and what feels natural to you.
But still very very nice job! It looks amazing to me.
