Hey, so Ive finally got this rough prototype of the game Im planning to make down and I want some constructive criticism or just feedback on either how fun the game is or what can just be improved overall
Keep in mind this is the most barebone version of the game I probably am going to make so things are subject to change
If you could take some time to test it and report back how you feel it’d be greatly appreciated!
If you could also leave some suggestions on how this game could be potentially more fun after you tested that’d be great thanks!
Controls:
E to use special ability [ Hold ]
F to hide behind walls
I can’t even see the enemies, so I just randomly get caught. I think the hide mechanic is unique but super finicky, since you have to face the wall for it to work.
Yeah the ability is supposed to make you able to see them better, so sorry about that; and also about the hiding mechanic it just made sense to check if their facing it, Ill try to increase the range thanks for testing!
The enemies are not really that visible unless you are using the ability which is kind of annoying. The AI is pretty cool although it breaks whenever the player character dies aka jump off map. The ability to hide behind walls is a bit awkward.
Thanks for the feedback but thats really the point of the game, you have to use the ability to see them but also try to reach the end without being detected, also I didnt account for the player dieing yet and could you be more specific when you say hiding behind the walls is awkward is it because you have to face the wall before you can hide?
For those of you who don’t understand the lore and or the ability, basically
Your a small child who accidently stepped foot into a haunted mansion, the thing is the door shut behind you and your locked in; you have to find a way out but you have another problem, evil spirits. They roam around the mansion mindlessly waiting to snatch anything they can get their hands, but the things is you have another problem you can’t exactly see these spirits; so basic when kids get scared they close their eyes so the ability is that you can close you eyes you can see them (doing some testing with this)
And yeah that’s the game, right now it’s in prototype stage but I tried to include all the mechanics and the basic AI for testing
im not sure whether this is intentional, but i love the concept. i love how you have to multitask to determine the enemy location, predict their (view)path and then to hide behind walls. definitely appreciate it (i just barged in and didnt even bother to get past the 1st stage, but i do quite like it)
