Hi guys,
Im working on a horror game right now and i noticed that even if everything is done (scripting modules, etc.) and i have the building stuff to build some scary scenes I don’t even know how the horror Story should even look like…
My idea so far:
(firstly i don’t want that the player ends in a japanese building where a scary guy chases you down in endless mazes) - I need a unique story concept
Ok so, the story starts in a forest. You and your friends where searching for a missing friend (you get some hints that the missing friend got kidnapped). As the game moves on you notice that strange things happen where ever you go (strange noises, side-jumpscares, etc.).
Ok my brain stopped working here, I am out of ideas.
I was thinking about a detective-like story game with some scary monsters and a Person which uses humans for his experiments (in this case the friend)
Tell me your ideas :D, how should i continue my poorly thought story?

Based on this, you can make it so the monsters could be the results of the experiments.

I’m not really a creative type of person, but based on what you mentioned I’ll try to think of something as related as I can. Lets start from the beginning.
For starters, either the Players will start off with like a heated argument which then one of them (the “lost Friend”) gets mad and either:
- Goes for a walk
- Just leaves on their own without alerting anyone
The Players spawn at a Forest, searching for the lost friend. Eventually there will be plenty of background stuff manually happening over time, such as bushes moving, faded in screams/noises (might be a bit too disturbing tho), stick crack noises, footsteps, etc.
Then bla bla bla, some more stuff happen and there is an argument between the Players (Adds a depth into the story since they also argued at the beginning, meaning the Players will suspect the one who was against the “lost Friend”) , and one/some of them get accused. There could be a voting System to vote out who the Players think is the one who kidnapped their “lost Friend”.
Eventually, at some point in the Game, they could end up in a Lab, which the Players will view the Experiments and/or their results (perhaps aswell as the monsters), leading to a few death-challenging moments maybe, and they will then face the “lost Friend”, aka the Experimental Maniac.
This took so much time and I eventually ran out of ideassss…I apologize if this wasnt helpful or the style you were going for. I’m really looking foward to playing your game whenever it’s done. When that time has come, contact me and send me the link if possible!

You really took your time writing that, didnt you? The Idea with the lab is a good one, there are so many ways to create such scary stuff there! I would prefer not adding a voting system because that would be unfair for some players that already spent 30 minutes of their life getting in this situation. I will contact you if the Game is done
Also do you have any ideas for an ending??
Come to think about it, that is true, plus some people could team up and troll or just vote others out for no reason…I hadnt thought of it that way. Good point!
Wellllll I havent finished any Horror Games (since I always die), so I’m not sure…there could be multiple endings perhaps, even tho it might be kinda hard for people to get ALL of them (which is kinda insane tbh unless they are a speedrunner or something). If there are many endings tho, it could be like this perhaps:
BAD ENDING
The Players will end up being Experimented on, aka the Monsters, will recreate this scene:
Ofc, I dont mean that you have to script it so the Avatar of the Players that died most recently match the Monster, but just hypothetically speaking. It’ll be like a loop or something (idk how to describe it properly).
GOOD ENDING
I don’t have many ideas for this one tbh…the Players could end up escaping from the Lab and then either:
- Stay traumatized, never talk about it again and just go Home
- Inform the Police about it
IDK ENDING
The Players do indeed escape and go home, but something happens (ran out of ideas again) anddddd dead.
