I love story games. They’re my favorite genre on Roblox, by far. The excitement I had when I played Camping 1 for the 1st time was great. “Roblox was a game just for kids!(which I no longer believe) Why would a game on Roblox have story and lore like games on other platforms?!” In fact, story games are the only reason on why I still play/am even interested in staying on the Roblox platform! Although, you can love something while still pointing out it’s issues.
For Example: Name 5 games that don’t go with this same Plot-line:
You go somewhere or do something pretty basic and normal and then something goes wrong and you have to escape in some sort of way. Normally this inciting incident involves some sort of generic and very stupid monster that just wouldn’t make you scared in a million years.
Another example: How many Story Games on Roblox do you think have a person that doesn’t believe in a whole group of 12 people that all say that they got shot or attacked by some person. Even when if you got attacked, there would be some sort of gunshot or noise like screaming that would indicate this being true. So that one character, basically ignores all evidence until they finally see the physical manifestation of the lies they accuse the players of telling.
So now that I’ve outlined some problems with Story Games on Roblox, would you play this game:
The Game Mechanics could be complex, but it’s design is not that hard to understand. The story is separated into chapters. The Chapter can be voted on, like in Piggy. Each chapter does not have a single type of gameplay mechanic like in Piggy though. For example, in ‘The Last of Us’, you have guns, arrows, hiding around corners etc. But the location where you might use these mechanics vary.
SPOILERS FOR LAST OF US 1: In last of us, you can use guns at the start of the game to fight off the soldiers, or at the end of the game to fight off the fireflies saving Ellie, killing innocent lives trying to save the world because of Joel’s want to not lose his second chance at being a father. Some mechanics might be guns or some other weapon. Theme: Sci-Fi, Horror.
The way the characters might work is one of the complex things though. What I could do is use actual characters that you’re forced into, or randomly choose between the players inside of the game and assign them a certain character based off of the characters I have.
Would this game work? What are the problems with this Idea if any?
