Hello, I want to try and make a game that uses mechanical skill and strategical skill. I want a fast paced game that rewards good mechanics and strategic, but I’m unsure how to balance it and make the game genre make sense.
I’ve got a rough idea how it could work by using close combat with dashes and other mobility methods, but I’m unsure how dashes could be “instant” and feel like a sort of “anime”/fast fight.
I’ve found a similar game, but it’s unbalanced due to spammers.
I would recommend looking at an anime fight and studying move length, time between moves, move types, knockback, destruction, etc.
For strategic play, you could try to include many intuitive synergies, status effects caused by synergies or combos, and combos. Adding depth to your game with feinting, blocking, and parrying would help to increase the mechanical appeal of the game.
