Struggling to make the combat more fun

Making an RPG game, a huge part of which will be melee combat.

The combat is going to be both PVP, and PVE with horde modes, where bunch of NPCs try to kill 4-5 players.
Currently the basics of combat are made. You can connect your hits into combos, dash to dodge, there are different weapons with varying attack speeds, animations and damage.
There is also an alternative first person mode.

The problem is
To me personally the combat feels kinda boring, and if I don’t enjoy my own game, I’m not sure if others will.

So I need your feedback and suggestions on how to improve this combat system. What to add to make it feel more fun. Also please be specific, don’t give advice that are equivalent of “Just get rich bro”.

P.S. I purposefully made the skeletons deal low damage for now, to not die on the video.

the animations are slower than a grandma.

something that i would say is very important is some sort of blocking or shield system so that the gameplay is not just walking towards the enemy and swinging, and i also think the reason this may feel boring is because its way too early on, its very hard to make a combat system thats this simple and fun, so i would say experiment with adding skills, blocking and also more unique variants of enemies because that will all contribute to making the combat more fun.
