Studio Beta for Experience Controls Available Now

just use topbarplus, that thing got you covered

so what? devices have gotten bigger screens nowadays.

get used to it, time has changed.

  1. you cant modify clunky roblox core ui (mostly the now giant ass icon with a big ol translucent circle round it)
  2. 1080p is still the most used resolution for desktops

this is a studio simulation of a 1080p screen
mostly they DONT cover most of the screen or ruining every experience when playing…
even on my “average laptop” sized screen (winch is 1366x768), doesn’t really affect my gameplay. i kinda liked it somehow.

why would the game want to modify ts?
theres no point for games to hide/modify the buttons n stuff
i cant understand why some games needs to “modify the clunky roblox core ui”

I thought the investor-pleasing trend was towards minimalist design that wasn’t as obstructive. I guess I’m sadly mistaken because now we have this. Is the goal of ROBLOX to just make games on the platform look as standardized as possible?
Doubling the size of the core UI that can’t be disabled at all is just insane for any developer who doesn’t want to copy the incredible visual style of a modern mobile game. A lot of those games have gotten popular on ROBLOX, but I think old-fashioned non-scam games that don’t have such huge menu buttons in order to retain pleasing visuals have potential too.
And before you try and cleverly point it out: Yes, I am quite unhappy about this. It’s made immersion into unique games harder.

I propose you tell us if you’re planning to make the UI any bigger like this now so we can get ready for it!

Seems like this is no longer the case as of 11/14/2024. Both mobile and desktop now have a topbar height of 58, and the padding between buttons is now identical across both platforms.

Also, the horizontal padding between buttons used to be 12 on desktop and 6 on mobile, but it’s now 8 on both.

You might have to adjust your UI to account for the new padding. On the bright side, this means (hopefully) no more calculations to figure out how to align your UI on mobile.

(an if anybody didn’t notice it yet) The UniBar is now a little bit thick
