I wish they would actually focus on things like improving performance, lighting, and over all quality of life features rather than hideous makeup

I like the update, maybe it’ll be useful for something, but I think Roblox should focus on the features developers have been requesting for years now.

My honest reaction

Totally unnecessary update… as if its going to really be utilized a lot.

The actual underlying tech that powers this feature definitely has a lot of uses since it doesn’t appear to be limited specifically to this feature’s use cases… it’s so weird people choose to focus on “feature bad” without thinking about the potential of the tech that is powering it.

Is this what they’re testing out with Decal Offset that I keep demanding to be added? </3

Interesting update. Any idea when this 4 month old bug will be fixed?

This is SUPER cool! I can’t wait for the opportunities that’ll be coming to Roblox with this feature, we appreciate your hard work!

I’m really sorry that most of the replies here are filled with hate, I know that you guys worked really hard on this feature and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was one of the next biggest selling points in fashion games on Roblox.

Will be really cool! I know that the makeup works on actual avatars, but will it work on other assets such as maybe pets and things which aren’t just the player themselves?

It’s not hate. It seems to just be confusion.
I guess fashion games are one use but most use custom rigs which already had makeup components, right?

devforum users thinking they speak for every single roblox player. people will absolutely use this as long as it looks fine on non-rthro heads

Does it work on non rthro heads?
It’d be nice to see pictures , if it does

It literally says dynamic heads

if it doesn’t work on regular heads, then id definitely agree its a waste of development time. this will be very popular for dressup & roleplay games, but even those players dont use rtrho

I think the examples they use and the naming is whats causing most people to be out off by it, but it seems to basically be custom decals that can be placed anywhere in a dynamic head thats layered ontop of the existing textures. I can see this be very cool to use, especially for things like changing eye or facial hair color, adding more details to the face like hair stubbles.

Leaving the actual feature that this post is about aside;

I think we can all agree that WrapTextureTransfer is a great addition to the engine. I can think of so many use cases for this Instance that was difficult to achieve in the past.

Something that immediately came to mind to me is the ability to project stickers and decals to vehicles & weapons in games as cosmetics. Or let’s say the ability to create a “spray” system like in some source games where you’re able to spray a decal onto a surface, and have it project onto the surface correctly.

There’s a lot of possibilities here with the underlying tech, and it shouldn’t be discounted even if people aren’t a fan of the feature they’re showcasing.

It works on any dynamic head, including the ones that replaced the classic faces

But it looks like its only for use with the LC mesh cages, unless im missing something that allows custom cages
