  • Roblox Studio Version: v0.663.0.6630659 (arm64)

Reproduction Steps

  1. Launch Studio: Open Roblox Studio on your MacBook Pro.
  2. Load a Project: Load any project (a minimal test place is sufficient).
  3. Observe FPS: Check the FPS counter—it drops from 60 FPS to approximately 40–50 FPS.
  4. Capture Data: Open the Microprofiler from the View menu.
  5. Run Microprofiler: Allow the profiler to run for several seconds to capture performance data.
  6. Confirm Issue: Verify that the microprofiler dump confirms the consistent FPS drop.

Actual Behavior

The Studio now consistently runs at approximately 40–50 FPS, leading to decreased responsiveness and noticeable lag.

Additional Notes

  • All plugins have been disabled to rule out any third-party conflicts.

Expected behavior

Roblox Studio should maintain a steady 60 FPS, as it did before the update.

Hello, StronkCat!

  • I will try to fix this problem completely and I hope I can help you!

What are the causes of the problem?
  • Firstly, the problem you are experiencing may be due to the ‘Rendering’ setting in Roblox Studio.
  • Second, the “temp” files that your system stores may be causing this problem.
  • This problem may also be caused by some files not working correctly.

1 - ) First, you can visit the Roblox Studio Setup page to check the system requirements and make sure you have a few things right.

2 - ) If everything is correct and you are sure, we can try other solutions.

ROBLOX STUDIO - “RENDERING”

  • Make sure you have Roblox Studio running.
  • Click on the “File” box in the top left corner.
  • Once you have clicked on it, you can access the “Studio Settings…” category.
    – You can also open this category by pressing “Alt+S”
  • In the Studio Settings category, click the Rendering box at the bottom.
  • Adjust settings in the following categories: Performance, Debug, General
Performance: If the “Editor Quality Level” is too high, it will try to add extra detail using performance.
Debug: "The “Mesh Detail Level” is important for FPS in debug. If you set it to a low level (level 00), the mesh detail will be of a higher quality and this may affect the system.
General: The General category allows you to change the graphics mode and some other settings.

TEMP FILES

  • Before cleaning the temporary files, you must uninstall Roblox Studio.
The reason: If we continue without uninstalling roblox studio, the files may become corrupted. And that makes the problem more complicated.
  • Temp Files: This is where all your previous processes are stored.
  • How can I delete it and where can I find it?
    – First of all, you can run “run” using Win + R keys. (As you can see from the shortcut keys = Windows + Run).
    – Then type “%temp%” in the search box in the RUN interface.
    – You can search for “roblox” in your file and delete the roblox studio files you have previously downloaded.
  • That’s it! You are now ready to download Roblox Studio.

If the problem still works, it does not mean there is no solution. I am always here to help! You can always ask for help on the DevForum. Many people besides me can help you.
– I believe you will solve this problem as soon as possible and make excellent projects!

Thanks,
Sincerely, Tyozel.

Thanks a bunch for all your help and for sharing those detailed suggestions!
Really appreciate you taking the time.

Just wanted to update that after installing the new Roblox Studio update (0.665.0.6650685 arm64) on macOS, the FPS issue is completely gone. Looks like it was specifically related to version 663 and not anything with my MacBook or the settings.

Thanks again for trying to help out!

Hello, StronkCat!!

Just updated to Roblox Studio Version 0.666.1.6660608 (arm64) and the FPS drop is back again…
Same issue as before. Really frustrating. Hope this gets fixed soon.

Are you having this issue as well? – Cursor getting stuck and glitching. I am also on a mac.

Nope, I’m not seeing any cursor glitches on my end. Play Solo runs fine for me, no stuttering or input issues.
The FPS drop only happens in Edit Mode while working in the Workspace.

Looks like the Roblox team is changing something in the Mac version.
Here is the latest Microprofiler dumps:
microprofile-20250327-141146.html (770.8 KB)

Today I have severe FPS drop in Studio.
When I fly around the map in Edit mode in an empty baseplate Studio stutters a lot.
I never had performance problems before.
I am using Windows 11.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the Studio but this did not help.
Any suggestions?
