A problem that has been going on for years at this point. When you have existing Studio windows open (team create in my case) and you go to edit another place from the web, if an update is detected you will see the “Shutting down” prompt and all of your windows will close. In some rare instances it will ask permission to shut down the windows, but t hat permission is useless since it went ahead and shut them down regardless. The only workaround with this are to download 3rd party software (ex: Roblox Studio Mod Manager) to prevent these updates from stopping your workflow.
Since it is a team create, work isn’t lost however your workflow is brought to a great halt. When you reopen the studio session, you have to re-set up your organization, and for me that is usually folders/models that are expanded in the explorer. Not to mention if there are multiple windows open, you’d have to go back to re-open each one since it isn’t automatically done for you.
Hi @Shawnyg thanks for the report! May I ask what OS and browser are you using? I believe this behavior shouldn’t happen if you directly launch the Studio executable (RobloxStudioBeta.exe) then try to edit place from Studio start page. However, edit place from the website uses the bootstrapper (RobloxStudioLauncherBeta.exe) to launch Studio, which currently will cause Studio to shut down when there is an update. The team is aware of this and is working on fixing this for the bootstrapper. In the meantime, if you’re still encountering this issue when directly launching Studio, please let us know and we’ll make sure to investigate and fix. Thank you!
