Studio Crash [reproducible]

Found another studio crashing bug that this time around can be reproduced! (Works around 70% of the time)
Seems like when you execute a command that Instances an IntConstrainedValue in the Workspace then try to select that IntConstrainedValue studio crashes

Video of me reproducing!

As you can see as I copy that line of code from a script then paste into the command bar above then attempt to click on the new Value and studio crashes (the selection hovers but doesn’t change as shown there). As I said this works around 70% of the time (as you can see the last attempt didn’t work which is why I have another value there)

Hopefully this bug can help solve other crashes that studio randomly gets

I haven’t been having hardly any crashing problems, only sometimes freezing when I’m in the script window.

It crashes instead of freezing for me. What OS are you using?

My operating system is Windows 7.

I’m unable to replicate your issue.

I was able to select all of these without crashing.

Hmm. I was wonder because my brother has Windows 8 and it only freezes for him. I have Windows 7 and Studio crashed about 10 times on me yesterday. Auto-save didn’t feel like working either. I lost quite a bit of time.

When did it happen? When you were opening a script? Or while editing in the scripting window?

Opening a script, editing in the scripting window, selecting a part, doing nothing, etc.

Thats strange… I have only had it to freeze for a few minutes when navigating between scripts and explorer. And you’re running Windows 7?

Well I am using windows xp if that helps, but honestly the new studio has been buggy from the start. Originally it was slow as hell and fidgity camera, luckily those issues were fixed quickly.

Are you still seeing this behavior? I tried to reproduce this to no luck.

  1. Make a script.

  2. Keep the script window open and type random keys like, “ABCDEFASDF1234567,1337” and copy and hold CTRL + V for 6 seconds (basically just putting a lot of letters/numbers into the command bar.)

  3. Right-click>Select All, CTRL + X

  4. Keep the script window open otherwise it my not freeze. Click the command bar and hover over an object in workspace. Now CTRL + V, right when you pasted it, click the object your cursor is over.

If it didn’t freeze, “Select All” and copy whats in the command bar and hold CTRL + V for another 6 seconds. Click the command bar and press CTRL + X. Then close the script window out and re-open it again. Then repeat the process of clicking the command bar and hover over an object in workspace, CTRL + V, right when you pasted it, click the object your cursor is over.

The thing is, it only freezes a few minutes for me.

I just got it to repro once with your instructions, and it didn’t last particularly long. However I also reproed it on a computer with 1GB of Ram and it’s still hanging in there.

A fix for this was just released.
