Studio crashes after a certain number of runs

When I press Run (not Play), and then Stop, Studio operates just fine. However, if I continue to do that with normal testing and normal load, eventually studio freezes.

It seems to occur after the 10th time I press Stop. I cant press any of the buttons, everything freezes, but I can still click the window buttons on the top right (ie. Close, Minimize). They just dont do anything and Im forced to close Studio with task manager.

It happens to me every time.
To reproduce it, open Studio on a default baseplate, press Run, wait a bit, press Stop and repeat roughly 10 times. I am not sure how common this is for others, but it has been very common for me.

The bug has been happening for a while, maybe over a month?

My system specs:
Core i7 9th gen
GTX 1660 Ti
16 GB ram

Hi Fluent_Lua,
After trying to reproduce this bug locally, I was unable to. I would like a little more info regarding how to reproduce this bug.

  • How long do you wait after pressing Run to press Stop? Do you wait until the loading bar at the bottom has disappeared, plus a few seconds, or is it more like a minute?
  • You said this problem happens after the 10th time, but to reproduce the bug you say roughly 10 times. Does it consistently happen after the 10th Run press for you?

Also, I am unable to find/open the link that you have at the bottom of your post.

The link at the bottom of their post is a DM to the Logs / Crash Dumps / Other Bug Files group. Studio log files and crash dumps when available are encouraged to be sent to this group to save time asking and risk of losing the files (since these files can sometimes contain sensitive information). You might want to look into joining this group since this will be the recommended way of sharing these files on the forum going forward (this is currently only for Studio issues).


Not sure if it will help, but I’ll DM you their log file since I have access to it from Post Approval and I’m currently online. FWIW, in the log file it looks like everything stops after NetworkServer:Destroy, nothing else is logged afterwards.

Also just to mention, OP has tested with plugins disabled and the issue persisted. Forgot to have them include that, sorry.

Can confirm, having this problem too. Messaged studio crash reports.

Update (1/16/2020) - Seems (for me) to only happen when team create is on. Could be related to the bug where when enabling team create, it crashes studio.

Update (1/16/2020) 9:33pm - This problem has seemed to be resolved by doing a complete wipe / clean reinstall of studio (make sure you delete your “Roblox Studio” file, I reccomend searching your computer for it, as I don’t remember where it actually was, maybe “%localappdata%”?) I’m willing to update this if it happens again.
