Studio Crashes Immediately Upon Launching

Reproduction Steps

Every time I open studio the screen goes white and then it crashes.

Expected Behavior

For studio to open and not crash.

Actual Behavior

Adding plugin window failed with error: Unable to create DXGI swapchain 887a005. Your plugin windows may not work correctly. Please close and reopen the place to restore plugin window functionality. If this problem persists, please contact Roblox customer support.

If I leave studio open for a few minutes after this error, my display drivers crash and when I restarted my computer they still didn’t work. I literally had to reinstall my display drivers.

Uninstalling and reinstalling studio has worked for the moment, but I’m not getting my hopes up.

Have you got any plugin installed?

I only remember having a database viewer plugin. And none of the plugin windows were open when it crashed.

May be backdoored plugin… Have you installed plugin when the crash happened?

Ever since I have reinstalled studio and uninstalled all other plugins, I have not had this happen again.

This is weird though because this has only been happening on my new computer. On my old computer everything was fine. This bug not only messed up my studio, but it also messed up my computer graphics, which isn’t something I believe a plugin is capable of. Ever since Roblox released the DPI update, my studio has been messed up from my mouse to occasional crashes.

Maybe a corrupted driver… Check it in Driver Manager…

It was corrupted, but I believe studio was the reason for it. I had to reinstall my display drivers after it crashed.

Have you updated your computer before?

Yes, my computer is fully updated. I have the newest version of Windows 11

But right before the corruption of the driver?

As of right now, I have not crashed since yesterday. I will post here if it happens again.

It might have been a plugin. Plugins cannot compromise your account, right?

Plugins are unable to compromise your account. Have you tried running studio with plugins disabled?

  • Shift + right click on your Roblox Studio shortcut, and choose “Open file location”.
  • Backspace the file path in the address bar in the explorer, and type “cmd”. Press enter.

  • In the black window that appears, type RobloxStudioBeta.exe -disableLoadUserPlugins . Press Enter.

  • Roblox Studio will start with all user plugins temporarily disabled.

Thank you, I have disabled all of my plugins except the datastore viewer one. I’ve not had an unexpected crash today, so my assumption is that it was a plugin.

So, it happened again when I was changing the emulator. It was not a plugin.

Hi, have you noticed a continued pattern of display related crashes from plugins here? We have made a couple changes to some of the DPI code, so wanted to know if your experience has improved since you filed this issue.
