Studio does not save layout if there are two widget columns next to each other

Since getting a new monitor I have been testing out various Studio layouts. I have settled on one that allows me to have my code editor open right next to the Studio viewport. It looks like the following (code editor is a separate application off to the left):

However, whenever Studio restarts the layout will be reset. I have tested this more and believe that the cause is two or more widget columns being next to each other (in this case Properties and Explorer). After restarting Studio, my layout ends up as:

While testing this more I changed my layout to the following and found that it worked perfectly after restarting Studio:

I was able to reproduce this issue pretty quickly, and upon restarting studio all of my plugins that were docked behind one of the column widgets were closed, forcing me to re-open all of them. Definitely unexpected & unwanted behavior.

Thanks for the report! We’ve filed a ticket to our internal database and we’ll follow up when we have an update for you.

Please note that filling a bug report does not guarantee that it will be fixed once triaged.

I can add some info to this topic: My layout has had two widgets side-by-side for months, but today I accidentally moved one widget and now I can’t get it back to how it was. Until today, I’ve had no issues with the layout and no issues with changing the sizes of the widgets even though this bug existed for two months.

The issue also exists for widgets stacked ontop of each other in tabs.

EDIT 2021-18-2Z10:15: Suddenly this started working again for me. I would test out the tabs to see if it started working again, but I’m afraid I’ll break something if I do.
