I’m also experiencing this issue.
I tried to manually close Studio via the window’s X button, and it wont let me click any option to save my work (though I can close the X button in this one)

I am having the same issue here, I also noticed when I minimize the window and return back to it the viewport turns white:
This is happening way too often and if I don’t save the project and no auto-save has been created all of my progress is gone.
Update: this issue has been happening way too often it is impossible to do anything without losing progress or wasting time opening task manager, end-tasking studio, and then reopening it.

Been experiencing this on both my desktop and laptop for around a week now, it keeps happening seemingly at random.
Stuff like text boxes on docked widgets are still highlighted when you move the cursor, but everything else just completely breaks. It’s really annoying.

Hi, if you have a reproducible case of this, please attempt to repro and send in a log of the session which will help track this down. Also note the frequency of the occurrence, and if its dependent on a specific place (any place, happens on baseplate, only for place X, etc)

the mysterious freeze we suffered in roblox studio that allows buttons to work but no response might be Softlock crash

Great, can you DM the log? Also, the behavior in the video is different than the other reports above - is Studio crashing? Or resident but locked? Also, is this dependent on how fast you’re clicking “stop” in the above video? Like if you let it sit for a while on play, then hit stop, is it still 100%?
One last thing - could you try on the Next Gen Studio Beta new play controls?

This is exactly what has been happening to me for the past few days.

This is still occuring, I am on version v668 (0.668.0.6680659):
Things I observed:
- You can resize the windows.
- You cannot interact with any element within the windows.
- Studio tasks seem to run as the scheduler stats continue to update, and automatic saves are still performed.
- FPS stat doesn’t update.
- This issue occurs in every place, even the baseplate.
- There doesn’t seem to be any particular trigger other than stopping a play test.
- QT UI seems to continue to function, but viewport does not (might be related to the FPS freeze).
EDIT: Additional things I observed:
- Keyboard shortcuts continue to work
- Internet doesn’t seem to be accessible because automatic cloud saves do not occur
- The freeze seems to only affect Roblox GUI (e.g., non built-in plugins) but not QT
- This issue can occur regardless of the number of times you have play tested, even on the first play test.

Let’s reset here - there seem to be a few different issues. One is a crash after play solo is stopped (studio closes). Another is a soft lock/application not responding after play testing is stopped - possibly very quickly, though there have been reports that it happens anyways.
If you were getting the crash, please attempt to repro again - we believe this to be fixed due to some flag changes yesterday. (If Studio has been open a while, please close and restart before testing this).
For the softlock there hasn’t been a change rolled out yet.
In either cases, any time you do see this please submit a log (you can DM me). This helps us gather more info on the issue. This is for sure a timing thing, so some people may not see it at all, some may see it all the time. Knowing the frequency of the issue is also helpful. Thanks!

Click play, game loads, after a couple of seconds it freezes then closes on its own

Same here, any time I click playtest it freezes and closes studio as of today

Having a similar issue here. Playtesting a game in Studio causes it to crash in roughly up to 15 seconds. Tried playing regular games on PC and it also crashses in the same timeframe. Only started happening to me roughly 15 minutes ago.

Confirmed this. After maybe 10 seconds, when playtesting, it freezes and then crashes with no popup or anything.
To add on, this started happening to me like a few minutes ago.

having same issue here too, i discover that if you leave, or press the other stop playtest, the bigger one, youre safe, but rn im having another issue where i try to playtest, and literaly closes. what the hell roblox, fix your studio already
