Studio hangs with high CPU usage when closing the program

Problem

As mentioned in the title, Studio hangs with high CPU usage when closing the app. The window stays open but is blank. The menus still show up when I click on them. I have to use task manager to force kill the process. This is a new issue that just started within the last day or two. I have tried this with all plugins and beta features disabled and it’s still happening.

Thanks for the report. We’ll look into it shortly.

PLEASE, its been causing so many problems with plugin data loss!

To be clear there is TWO issues in the following topic I made.

  • The studio hang issue (the one mentioned here)

  • Studio hanging while using search if there is a huge script files such as vlua in the data model.

I’ve noticed an overall performance hinderance in studio as of two days ago.

It seems like even moving parts around has strange latency hiccups that feel awfully strange. Clicking a part, for example, for some reason is taking about a millisecond or so just for the explorer to select it. While it’s a small hiccup, there’s a noticeable latency and trying to do accurate placements is being affected by this significantly. Working with part placement has become tedious at the moment.

EDIT - ignore this, this was a problem with my PC individually. Not Studio.

This issue is no longer reproducible. I’m going to close this one, please file again if it arises again.

Ax1sAng1e - I’ll review the issue you linked. It seems, as you said, to be two independent issues.

I can’t duplicate it either now no matter what I do. It must have some some temporary condition. I know that there is utility work in the area which the telecommunications company has been running new fiber optic cables underground to the distribution nodes. I wonder if that had something to do with it.

I’ll reinstall studio again and see if it still happens.

Just earlier I had it happen, it hung.

Another bug is launching player test sessions, it just crashes instantly and never opens, this happens very often and i can reproduce it 1/6 of the time. (included in video at end)

I can provide a memory dump from task manager when it hangs, it would be big but i could compress it and pm it for someone to take a look.

Got the problem again, hung during test session open.

My last video, I think I’ve provided enough proof that this problem still exists for me.
Happened after closing out test session, the server instance seem to just fail to close.

Still a issue, randomly started after my Studio started lagging recently

Makes my 9700k shoot up to 60% for brief periods of time and I have no plugins installed.

This seems to occur on MacOS as well by the looks of it, had a issue not too long ago where Studio just kept staying open, force quit was required.

While I am also experiencing this, it’s useless to report it here. Someone needs to make a new post in order to bring the attention again.
