After fully reinstalling studio yesterday I have been having constant problems with Studio being laggy when I am using another window. This was not an issue before and I am unsure how to fix this. If anyone could help me out that would be great.
I’m 99% sure this is intended for performance purposes.
Was not happening prior to me reinstalling
Can you show a video of this to confirm this isn’t the intentional unfocused behavior?
Used the waterfall as an example as its easy to show using it’s movement.
Can you try disabling “Efficiency mode” in Windows? Apparently “Settings > System and performance > Toggle Efficiency mode”.
I cannot seem to find that in settings
This happens to me also, on Mac. I thought this was intentional though?
Runs 15 FPS when unfocused:

I would like to add that a setting to disable this would be nice assuming it’s intentional
Is this still happening to you? At the time we were thinking this was Windows’ efficiency mode.
I can still reproduce this on the latest studio release, on macOS
Yes this issue is still happening
I don’t know what you were seeing before the reinstall you mention but Studio rendering has definitely always skipped 3/4 of the frames when not focused. It’s been like that for many years.
This is the expected behavior, that the frame rate is 1/4 what it normally is when the window is not focused.
My best guess is that before reinstalling you had the framerate set to 240Hz, which would mean that even when divided by 4 the framerate still appeared smooth.
