Studio local server test showing significant server lag and loading times

Description
When starting a local server, loading times are significantly higher than normal, and there is very apparent server lag between requests (like RemoteEvents)

When this started happening
This started happening today. It did not happen yesterday or ever before. My PC is perfectly capable of handling a test server with 2 test clients, and I’m not doing anything different. I haven’t installed anything new, and I don’t have any other programs open that may be throttling the performance. I’m not doing anything different than I normally do.

I’ve tried restarting studio and restarting my PC. This happens in any roblox place I try to test.

System Specs

  • CPU: i7-8086K
  • Memory: 64 GB @ 2667 MHz
  • Disk: Samsung 960 EVO SSD 500GB
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 1080

Note: Framerate unrelated, it is just the recording software I used. And testing a blank baseplate loaded much faster than an actual game, but when a game does load, there is lots of server lag.

I can reproduce the same bug in my studio, started happening since the last update

Okay thank god, I thought it was my PC. This has been happening to me as well and makes it basically impossible to do a local server studio test.

Hope this gets fixed soon!

From what I can tell, it’s based on which windows are in focus. If I click off of the studio window while testing the entire game basically comes to a halt. When I click back into the studio window, putting it in focus, it resumes normal activity.

The reason it’s lagging is because the window running your server can’t be in focus at the same time your clients are in focus, so while you’re focused on a client, the server is just stalling. If you go back and forth quickly between being focused on the server’s window and being focused on individual client windows, they’re somewhat able to communicate, because for the short moment that the server is focused, it’s doing its job.

Hopefully this gets fixed sooner rather than later.

Yeah, you are right, I noticed this too. Nonetheless, it only started happening since this last update.

I’m having the same problem as well. My characters are not sync and my in-game clock is slowed a lot. A second in the games takes about 5 to 8 seconds.

I’m getting issues like this too

I have a screen that waits for the game assets to be loaded, well, it takes much more longer than before, maybe like 10 seconds. It also lags alot with some basic buildings (30-100 Parts = 20FPS), and when i play a place that i have created, it also lags with 30FPS, before it was 50-60FPS, which is strange, and i thought it was bad optimization from some scripts.

Same problem started early afternoon today right in the middle of running tests. Thought a change in script messed something up. Can also confirm it happens when the window is not in focus. Since server window isn’t focused, the test “players” lag out because the server is choking. Heartbeat and FPS drop off. To <1 making it impossible to use the test server right now.

Seems to be cleared up today now.

I just got this bug and I have no idea why it’s happening or how to fix it. I think the lag only happens in studio test, but it causes my server scripts which usually load in no more than 10 seconds to now take more than a minute to load. As you can imagine my game now takes forever to test and I don’t know if the server will be just as slow in a real game.

Edit: I just solved this bug by uninstalling then reinstalling studio.
