Studio & player laggier since major outage

Reproduction Steps

  • Open a larger Roblox game

Included my game as an example.

System info:
AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Eight-Core Processor
32GB
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060

Expected Behavior
I expect studio and the player to run at a stable 50-60 FPS like it did before what changed.

Actual Behavior
Since around (not sure on the exact date) the major outage in October I have experienced a much laggier Studio & player, to a point where I have dropped from a stable 60fps to 20fps when looking around the map.
This also applies to Studio, where it also creates the same amount of lag.

This happens in any Roblox game I join, any place in Studio I open.
Other developers on my team have the same issue.

I am certain this is not related to my game, as nothing has changed in the core code or in the map before this started.

Video of the fps in-game below. I could do this at a full 60fps before.

Recently I started noticing a drop in FPS in studio as well. I was able to view my map at full graphics with 60 fps until recently, now it barely gets above 20 and I have to have my studio settings on a lower quality, which makes it harder to develop larger maps or see all the scenery. Like Robin, I have a railway game, linked here:

https://www.roblox.com/games/361547354/Grand-Continental-Railways-BETA

We also have a render distance system when playing in game which removes parts from the workspace (except trains), and yet looking at a certain part of the map drops frames per second by quite a lot, more for lower end devices, despite there being little to nothing there.

Team Creates seem to take longer to load as well, and a while to start Play Solo, making development for me and my team a lot slower.

My computer is rather powerful, similar specs to Robin, and it struggles. My playerbase with lower end devices are suffering more. I do believe this is an issue that needs to be looked into.

Bumping this again as I’ve been reported further issues on my game linked above. People are now reporting the moving trains in the game, which are controlled through Body Velocity and Network Ownership, stuttering badly. The trains themselves look like they are moving at a very low FPS, while the rest of the game is running fine (as fine as possible since the issues I stated above)

Other users are saying after a while that their clients start to get a low FPS. I still cannot use studio smoothly, script editing is also much laggier and all of my other developers on my Team Create who could view this map at full graphics in studio, no longer can with a stable FPS.

I have also been experiencing major frame rate drop on my larger game. Not sure if it’s changes to future lighting, but I’ll say this; the game should be this laggy in its current pre-alpha stages with very minimal builds.

this happened in twisted, and no, im not the creator of it but have experienced it…

before the outage, twisted worked fine, with 30-50 fps, after the outage its was much laggier, opening the microprofiler shows a big orange block filling the microprofiler, and lag spikes occur even in lowest graphics…

I have also noticed Roblox getting more laggy. My game usually gets 10+ people playing per day and the servers stay up for 4+ hours and by that time theres lag spikes that happen frequently, sometimes happening after the exact same interval.

This also happens on my macbook but not in studio where i got 25-50fps

Additional info: On a copy of the game before it started lagging, somewhere before the outage, the game/studio still gets low FPS/lag, to further prove my point I am certain it is not related to my game.

From a players perspective, I can confirm this. I used to get straight 60 at full graphics in most games, now that fluctuates between 25-30.

I’ve also noticed this issue is not specifically isolated to pc. Ever since the outage, the Xbox Series X has run games like GCR horribly, around 10-15 fps to be exact.

Hi all, is there still a lag problem here? Thanks!
