Studio reinstalls every time it is opened from the start menu

Reproduction Steps
Currently, as of 2/22/22 (twosday), Roblox Studio will forcefull re-install itself every time it is opened from the Windows start menu. This results in other instances of studio being forcefully closed every time I want to open a new instance, resulting in me being locked to having only one instance of studio open.

Expected Behavior
It is expected that studio will not forcefully re-install itself every time a new instance is opened from the windows Start menu.

Actual Behavior
Studio forcefully re-installs itself every time a new instance is opened from the windows Start menu.

Have you pinned RobloxStudioBeta.exe or RobloxStudioLauncherBeta.exe?

I get this when I launch RobloxStudioLauncherBeta.exe, but not the former.

I pinned the launcher. I’ve had this pinned before, and have not had this issue. This issue started happening recently.

When launched without any args, the launcher will forcibly update Studio. When the installer creates shortcuts, it creates the shortcut with the -ide argument which launches Studio normally. If you are creating the shortcut manually, you need to provide that argument as well

  • Search “Roblox Studio” in Start Menu and right-click.
  • Click “Open file location”

  • Click on “Roblox Studio”, right-click on it and then click “Properties”

  • Make sure “Target” has “-ide” at the end of it.
