Studio Sessions Force Open on Wrong Monitor

When you open up a new Studio session, it appears on the non-primary (wrong) monitor and cannot be moved or minimized out of fullscreen until you open up a file or game.

I have been able to replicate this 100% of the time on several systems.

Expected behavior

It should appear on my primary monitor on launch - and I should be able to move it around, exit fullscreen, etc

Thanks for the report! I filed a ticket in our internal database.

I’ve had the same issue about 20 minutes ago. It was kinda crazy

Hi Preston,

Is this repeatable on multiple startups? Anyway to get a screen shot of this behavior?

Hi Preston, any followups here on how to reproduce this?

Hi, have 2 or more monitors connected and open up Studio. It will (almost) always open up on the non-primary monitor and cannot be moved to the primary monitor until a place file is open (F11 does not work). I’ve been able to replicate this on 2 entirely different desktops running Windows 10 LTSC and Windows 11

Hi, any way to get us a screen shot or video of this happening? I’m interested in what the state of the “locked” window is to see if it lines up with other similar reports.

Early to say, but as of the update today this is no longer happening. I’ll post a video if it occurs again.

I’m wondering if this is a variant of the docking corruption issue, where the viewport or a widget can get “stuck” on either the desktop or the top of the main frame (covering the ribbon).

This is an intermittent error, and when we detect it occurring the widget layout is reset. If you’ve noticed that happening and the problem stopping, then it’s most likely this. (Happens more frequently to users with lots of plugins/lots of docking panels in use)

Either way please do post a video if you see it again!
