It’s incredibly common to see status features for social apps such as Discord, Instagram, and more, but what about something in a development engine?

Say hi Studio Status, a simple, non-intrusive, and easy-to-use plugin for setting social statuses in Roblox Studio.

Your status appears over your team-create head like so:

How do you set a status, you might say? Well, with this awesome plugin:

It’s as simple as that. Your status saves and everybody in your team create session can see it (including you, if you want), even if they don’t have the plugin!

What’s Changing In The Future?

You can expect these changes on the roadmap:

  • Commands (including the ability to not have a plugin button in your toolbar at all, and have it replaced with said commands)
  • Advanced status customization, such as colors, fonts, etc.
  • Emoji status presets
  • View focus visualization
  • Accessibility features
  • And more!

Could there be an option to switch between an automatic and manual status? The automatic status could detect and show:

  • “Editing [script name]”
  • “Working in the workspace”
  • “Working on UI”
  • “Idle for [time]” – could detect when they’re idle if they haven’t moved or made no script changes, though this could be challenging

This could be useful to just have the plugin running in the background and let it give a brief overview of what you’re working on!

Done and updated, except separated as two features:

  • Automatic status
  • Status type colors (online, away, and offline)

Edit: I do have one feedback question, actually, while I have your attention here.

I’m thinking of changing the status design so that it’s a more sleek-looking box rather than plain text. Here is a concept I threw together:

Will others need the plugin to see this? I don’t mind, but it would be better as a setting if it’s just on-screen UI. Also, it’s a little thick so it might be distracting.

As for the UI, I think it looks great. One piece of feedback I could give is to change the eye icon (might be a me thing, but I’ve always found it weird seeing my screen stare back at me).

Maybe these deliver the same idea of a selection?

Nope.

Something I was considering is that users of the plugin can have a setting to convert the 3D billboard status of others into a 2D widget or GUI on-screen that’s minimal. Also, I was thinking of adding another similar setting for turning off the status of others.

Update: New status UI!

The status UI element has been updated, and will apply once you update the plugin.

Hello! Really cool plugin but could you add a few adjustments?

  • Option to disable automatic sizing (size of billboard stays consistent)
  • Max distance input (for how far you can see the billboard)
  • Themes? Adjusting what the text font is and text colour as well as background, etc.

  • Others should be able to click the selection icon to select what you have selected/what you’re editing.

    • It could be a setting, but I feel like it would be a useful addition for some scenarios instead of just being text on a screen.

  • We should be able to customize the size of the status.

  • We should be able to create custom automatic statuses.

    • For example, instead of “Currently working on something…” I would be able to custom set it to “I’m working on:”

  • The commands should be listed in TextBoxes so they are easily copyable.

    • Unrelated to the above, I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong but commands just don’t work. Am I supposed to use them in the command bar? I printed shared but I see no functions from this plugin.

Hi, sorry for bumping :sweat:, just wanna start off by saying I love this plugin conceptually, and the UI design for the Billboard GUI is really aesthetically pleasing! I have no idea if you’re still updating this plugin, but if you are

My biggest issue, honestly, is that the Billboard is REALLY big, and i mean REALLY big.

Most of the people I tend to have alongside me in studio are people who 3D model in some way.
My issue with this is that if I happened to start working on something next to a build after i was checking it out, then it is VERY intrusive for the builders. in the video above, you can see that it takes up a substantial chunk of the screen when i’m near my main account.

this isn’t really a problem with the model shown in the video, as i can just, go slightly further away and it’s not visible, but in higher detail builds, or in small enclosed spaces, i can see this being a really big issue for my co-workers!

I think an option for making the billboard use scale instead of offset (so it takes up a smaller portion of the screen when i’m further away), if at all possible, would be SUPER lovely. Also, making the billboard not have alwaysontop as true would also be a huge help for this! ^^

This second thing is more of a feature request than anything.
I’d like to preface this with the fact that I am not someone who creates plugins in any way. I have never coded a plugin, and I know very little about what goes into creating plugins in general!

But if at all possible, I think it’d be really nice for the automatic status to show which line of code i’m at, and if this is possible, which function i’m working on!

I think it’d be super useful for me personally, if one of my co-workers, or my bosses, or anyone generally could just, go up to me and see exactly what i’m currently working on!

OVERALL i would like to say i REALLY like this plugin, and it’s overall been really nice to use and my co-workers think it’s cool! but If at all possible, i’d LOVE to see some of these changes considered if they’re at all possible ^^
although at the end of the day, these are VERY MINOR complaints.

Love this plugin though, and i’m definitely going to continue using it cause i think it’s freakin awesome LOL (Anything that makes me not have to actively message people while i’m in the zone is lovely)

Sorry if this was too long or too critical or anything, I’m not a frequent poster on the dev forum and I am uncertain of how in depth to make comments ^^
