Studio using 350 GB of memory and then crashing Mac M1max 64GB, 443GB free on SSD

Hi, thank you for taking your time to resolve this.

Mac M1max 64GB, 443GB free on SSD - Sequoia 15.3.2

-Open studio → loads game I am working in → crashes after 5 minutes

  • reload studio, open Activity Manager to see how much memory is using, → game loads and starts with 6GB of memory usage, then 9, then in less than a minute is up to 33GB

Troubleshoot

  • uninstalled studio - nothing
  • disabled all plugins - nothing
  • reverted to last week version of the game - problem percist
  • opened another game I am working on - same problem

Expected behavior

before the last studio update, everything was working fine.

Might be the new luau solver if you have it enabled in beta features try turning it off.
350 GB is mad

i get it’s a beta but i feel like using 350 GB of RAM might just be a little excessive

Sorry for the inconvenience, we will have additional fixes to prevent this from happening in next update.
Hopefully they will cover your case.
We will try to update the topic for you to try again to confirm if it is resolved (if you wish to try of course).

This is still an ongoing issue. I found this bug report while looking if anyone had encountered the same memory out of control issue.

Disabling the New Luau type solver beta feature resolved the issue and memory did not rise for over 2 hours. Previously memory reached the maximum after 10-20 minutes.

This is an image of the memory when I killed the studio task. Studio would not close on its own.

Given that I have 96 GB of memory installed, it is clear that this memory leak is uncapped.
