For about two to three months now I’ve been having a very strange bug with studio. If I leave it sitting up as a program and don’t touch it (say I open it at 6:00 before a class, and then intermittently tab in and out of it to do work), it will become a white screen and then effectively crash.
The basics of what happens is this:
- Leave an online studio tab open for awhile
- Come back to it to see a white screen(picture below)
- Click on studio to attempt to do any action (including closing the program or trying to save the game)
- Studio then proceeds (at least on windows) to go into a state of unresponsiveness, triggering Windows Not Responding notification. There is a choice here.
- Pressing wait to respond will have you sitting infinitely (I’ve let it all night at one point to prevent loss of hours of work), alternatively, if you click close program, it does not do this.
The only solution I’ve found to successfully fixing studio (temporarily at least) is to open task manager and kill the task. I’m not sure if this is a plugin issue, as it started happening after I installed a plugin called Hoarcekat.
If it is a plugin issue, then could there be some oversight that allows plugins to crash studio? (In this case I believe unintentionally?)
I’m running Windows 10 and this just happened on studio version 0.457.0.414557
Specs:
Intel(R) Core™ i7 CPU X 990 @ 3.47 GHz
24 GB DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
1 GB Internet
As needed I’ll send a dump/log file.
I’m lacking screenshots right now, but I am going to reproduce the issue and get that.
As you can see here though, I have a functional studio in a brand new place I just created and all is fine:
I created this post at about 2:30 PM EST, and I checked it at 5:30 PM EST and found the white screen.
From here studio crashes.
