Recently got back into development after a year of being inactive. Wanted to try and make the project I had in mind long before taking a break. Wasn’t exactly going for a showcase but it turned out to be one for now until I find bigger and better ideas. However, coming to a completion in this project I would definitely like some feedback, as whether this is “Showcase” worthy or things TO make it showcase worthy. Ideas or things to help bring it more to life.
In my opinion I think I could’ve done better if I could have focused more on the objective, but you a lot of times you just have to be happy on how it turned out. And within this post I can better it or create an even better one.
I didn’t really keep an estimate of the time I spent on it but to guess…I would probably say about a week. first 3 days for assets, 2 days for terrain and then around 1-2 days for setup. It was a slow process due to school and such but I still managed to finish. Let me know what you think!
GAME LINK:
If you are too lazy to join here are some pictures! NOTE: There is a Day/Night cycle and the lanterns turn on during night, but in this case they are on since I am in the studio zone not test. ANOTHER NOTE: I do not claim the work for the stylized drawings (offsite buddy of mine), due to my art skills being pretty terrible! But I am getting there.
Just for people like me!
I would still love to give this game a visit and give some feedback later!
From the photos you have generously provided, I’m very impressed!
Looking forward to checking it out!
The style of the rocks doesn’t match up well with the terrain, I’d suggest adding a rougher texture. Most of the models look like plastic, which doesn’t make sense when next to the natural terrain.
Also, the skybox mountains don’t match up with the style shown here. Maybe make your own mountains surrounding the showcase?
This looks great, I don’t really agree with the other comment (Especially since you can change terrain materials now) This could look amazing with some custom terrain materials.
