Sudden FPS Drops

Hey all, I’ve been having an annoying issue with studio as of about a month or two ago: without warning and seemingly without reason, my framerate in studio tanks to <5fps from the usual solid 48 (my monitor’s refresh rate), and nothing short of closing and restarting studio fixes it. It happens regardless of place, and like I said seems to happen totally at random, interrupting my development sessions as I have to restart studio.

The only thing I could think of that could cause this is maybe as I tab out and back in, as I usually notice the problem occur shortly after I go back into studio (though I switch windows frequently, so this may just be confirmation bias). I’m running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit on a Lenovo Y50-70 (i7-4710HQ Quad @ 2.5GHz, Intel HD 4600 and GTX860M 4GB), and studio is definitely running on the dedicated GPU.

If you have any questions, ask away; I’ll try to check back on these forums more frequently than I have done as of late. Thanks for your time.

Have you looked at the microprofiler?

First of all, sorry for the late reply - guess I failed to keep that promise.

Not sure if I can use the microprofiler, at least not in studio - everything’s far too small for me to read (I’m using a 15.6" 3840x2160 monitor), and it’s all far too spaced out for me to get a good screenshot. I’ll try and mess with display scaling, but only as a last resort (Win10’s display scaling is a bit pants and has about a 50/50 chance of crashing my laptop). Any other ways I can get similar data?

Edit: It might actually be a fault with my laptop; experienced a thermal shutdown for the first time yesterday, and the temperatures have been unacceptably high since. Suspect CPU/GPU throttling due to high heat.

Not that ik of

You know the profiler can zoom with the scroll wheel right?
